OUTLOUD: Unmanifest Destinies

OUTLOUD invites poets, storytellers, performers, musicians, and embodied truth-tellers to take the mic for Unmanifest Destinies a live, collective unmapping of colonial narratives through voice, body, and presence.

Unmanifest Destinies reimagines the colonial myth of Manifest Destiny, the violent belief that land, bodies, and futures could be divinely claimed through queer, decolonial, and radically imaginative expression. Where empire-imposed silence, OUTLOUD insists on sound. Where bodies were controlled, OUTLOUD makes them visible, audible, and sovereign.

This is not about polished performance.
This is about truth spoken from the body.

ABOUT THE THEME

Colonialism didn’t just conquer land; it regulated voice.

Languages were erased. Genders were flattened. Bodies were disciplined. Desire was criminalized. Spirit was stripped from flesh. Many of us were taught to quiet ourselves to survive.

OUTLOUD: Unmanifest Destinies is a refusal of that silence.

This gathering centers on the body as a sacred landscape, a living archive of memory, ritual, pleasure, grief, intuition, and resistance. Like land, bodies have been mapped and controlled. And like land, they remember.

Through spoken word, storytelling, music, movement, and performance, participants are invited to reclaim the body as:

  • A site of sovereignty rather than submission

  • A vessel of ancestral memory and futurity

  • A place where spirit, sensuality, and survival coexist

  • A living geography capable of healing, rupture, and rebirth

Here, voice becomes ritual.
Here, presence becomes protest.
Here, the sacred is spoken out loud.
